Reading/Spelling/Grammar Our last story in Book 1.5 is The New Friend. We will be spelling words with ou and ow, writing contractions, segmenting syllables, and naming synonyms.
Math This week, we will be adding 9, writing fractions for one-half, one-fifth, and one-sixth, identifying numbers as greater than and less than, dividing sets, and measuring capacity.
D'Nealian Our letters for the week are upper-case E, F, and Z.
Intensive Phonics We will be spending the next few weeks pronouncing words with the pigpen sounds. (Special Vowel Sounds) They are au, aw, ou, ow, oi, oy, and oo. We mark pigpens with a slide and x.
Science There will be a test on Ch. 7-Weather, on Thursday. In this chapter, we learned about the tools that measure weather, types of clouds, different kinds of wet weather, and the differences in the four seasons. Books will be sent home on Tuesday.
Social Studies We begin Ch. 4. We will be measuring time using a clock and calendar.
Religion Our focus is on the story of the Last Supper. We will be reciting mealtime prayers and illustrating a special meal.
