The subjects that 3rd grade will be studying this year include:
Religion, Math, Reading, Writing, Language arts, Spelling, Social Studies & Science
All school mass starts at 9:15 on Wednesdays.
Assessments: Religion quizzes will be after each section and the tests will be after each unit. Math will consist of daily work (in their math notebook) after each lesson (they will usually be given time to work on this in class & bring home whatever is left) and 2 tests per each section. Spelling tests will be weekly, with a pre-test on Thursday and for those students who don’t 100%, a test on Friday. Reading and vocabulary grades will be a mixture of in-class workbook grades, quizzes and lesson tests. Social Studies Quizzes on vocabulary words will be after 1 or 2 lessons and test are given at the end of a chapter. Science vocabulary quizzes will be after 1 or 2 lessons and tests at the end of each chapter. There will be project and participation grades also included throughout the year.
Assignments: Daily assignments will be posted on the white board, so students can write them down throughout the day. If you ever have any questions, please email me at bhartman@lasallecatholic.org.
Homework Policy: I will make sure students know which assignments are to be written in the front of each textbook (on a piece of lined paper since there are no planners this year) to be completed at home. If students are consistently struggling to turn homework in on time, I will set up a time to talk (either over the phone and or in person; whichever works out best for you) to parents/guardians about what we need to do to get the students homework in on time.
Thank you,
Brenda Hartman
