Giving
"How shall I make a return to the Lord
for all the good he has done for me?"
– Psalm 116
Stewardship
It's not a program, but a lifestyle and relationship with God. It is the habit and nature of a disciple of Jesus Christ to be a ‘giver’.
Why We Give?
There's no better investment in the world than the local parish. It is where people meet Jesus and lives are changed.
- Giving draws us closer to God – When you invest in what matters to God, you strengthen your relationship with Him. Sacrificial giving is an act of worship.
- Giving grows our character – Giving helps us to better reflect the character of God. He has given us everything, not even withholding his own Son! God so loved the world that He gave his only begotten Son.
- Giving expresses love for people – Our giving makes it possible for people to hear the Good News of God’s love for them. It also helps us provide, through our ministries, critical care to the poor and those in need.
How To Give
- Planned – Growing in generosity means being intentional about our giving. Planning our giving means that we intentionally set aside money from our budget to give away. An efficient way to plan our giving is to give electronically.
- Priority – Making giving a priority means giving it first place in our budgets. Growing in generosity requires that we don’t give leftovers. We give our “first fruits” back to God.
- Percentage – In planning our gifts, we pick a percentage to give away, keeping in mind the biblical standard of the tithe or giving ten percent back to God. Identify a percentage of your income to give away. A suggested way to tithe would be 5% to the local parish, 1% to the local church (the Annual Diocesan Appeal), and 4% to other worthy charities or needs.
- Progressive – Our goal over time is to increase the percentage of our income that we give away. As God blesses us financially we recognize that we have been blessed to be a blessing.
Making an Online Gift
Making a regular online contribution by electronic check or credit card is easy with our new system:
- Open the Online Giving website by clicking below (the link will open in a new window)
- Your first time registering, click on "First Time" to setup your profile.
- Click "Scheduled Giving" to make an automatic donation.
- Here you can choose a fund, how often you want to give, and the amount of the gift.
- Finally, click "Activate Schedule" to start this scheduled gift.
If you'd like to schedule an additional regular gift, you can add more schedules using the option at the bottom of the page. You can modify or delete a scheduled gift at any time. Make a mistake and need a refund? Just let the parish office know. If you'd like to make a special gift for a Holy Day or any other reason, please just make a one-time offering in the "Special Gift" fund. We'll make sure it's credited to your parish. We still encourage you to keep your envelopes. Its good to have something to throw in the basket when the ushers come around! Just check "I gave online" on the back of your empty envelope. Online giving and traditional envelope giving are both recorded in the same place for your single year-end tax statement.
